F: Now that we're comparing anyway, I remember enjoying reading this link between cooking and reading, as something of equally obvious, as well as continuous relevance:

“(...) reading a book will always remain as natural as cooking with fresh ingredients or riding a bicycle through a beautiful landscape – habits that haven't died out just because some people prefer eating canned foods or exercising on a home trainer. The book is not an information desk, but a way of life.”*
